According to our local hostmaster, this is fixed now.
Our CNAMEs should now properly point to a TXT record.
Can you please check this from your end and let me know?

Confirmed. Forget the patch to rblsmtpd.
I was just recently ready a document on setting up qmail on a redhat system
and i had some questions about the instructions. the document is
http://qmail-docs.surfdirect.com/docs/redhat.html
<http://qmail-docs.surfdirect.com/docs/redhat.html>
the question i have is at part 2.5 running qmail-smtpd
it says that there should be a file called /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail-smtpd.init
in which i could not find. Also the document notes that there should be
file called /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail.init also i didnt find. Is this
documantation totaly wrong or did i not install something? thanks for your
help
Hi there,
First of all----- I'm no that much of a Linux/Unix wizard!
I'm trying to set up a qmail (ucspi) on Redhat 5.2, along with mess822
Qmail works fine, aliases.cdb works fine also.
Because i want to rewrite the FROM: field, i installed mess822.
According to the man files, ofmip should do the rewriting for me.
(or new-inject, but i can't understand who does what)
I copied /etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail-smtpd.init to /etc/rc.d/init.d/ofmipd.init
The only thing i changed is : set PORT to 26 and set PROG to ofmipd
This seems to work fine, because i'm able to telnet to port 26
and i can send mail through prot 26 with Outlook. (i know, i'm very sorry).
I also made a name.txt with this content:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:Fre de Vries:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:
After that ik made a name.cdb with:
/cdb-0.55/12tocdbm < /etc/name.txt | /cdb-0.5/cdbmake /etc/name.cdb
name.tmp
I'm sending with [EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED] There is an alias that says
[EMAIL PROTECTED] has to be forwarded to [EMAIL PROTECTED], wich it does.
I want the returnpath [EMAIL PROTECTED] to be rewritten to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
What else do i need to get my from: header rewritten???
Thanks,
Fre de Vries
Heya there :)
I've been trying to find a good way to manage my
qmail server for a while now, but can't figure it out yet. Maybe you guys can
help me :)
Here's the set up. We currently got an NT mail server
here (running IMAIL (huh)). We got about 3000 users on our domain + about 100
other virtual domains. I'm in the process to migrate that NT server to qmail
(under rh 5.2, memphis qmail RPM). We're a small ISP, we sells dedicated isdns,
dialups etc.
The problem is that 90% of the virtual domains users
don't use the "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" extension
when login in. They use a "normal" login (ie: "user"). The other 10% of the
users actually uses the extension and log in as "user$vdomain.com".
So I gotta find a manageable way to set up all this.
I've installed vchkpw (nice piece of software btw) and it works just fine for
the users that use the extension. But won't work for the others. As you can see,
I've got 2 types of authentification... I could manage the extensions users with
vchkpw but what for the others? Problem is that I can't really uniform this...
some virtual domains have more than 100 pop users.
I could set up all my virtual domains with vchkpw and
duplicate the users accounts that don't use the extension (make 'em a "real
account", with /etc/passwd etc) and forward their mail from their virtual pop3
account to their "real account". But when they would reply to their messages
they won't have the right domain name... And the virtual domains users would get
mixed with my domain users :( That would be very heavy to manage...
Well, if you got suggestions on how I could set this
up... don't hesitate :)

Might be possible to change the error message from an SMTP 5xx error
(permanent) to a 4xx error (temporary), so the mail will be kept in
the queue instead of being bounced. That will work in theory but I
haven't tried it.

Hello,
I just installed the qmail here.
everything is fine, except the user(s) in the system cannot
download their mail from the server ( which use qmail ).
Everytime the user try to download the mail it prompt
that the password is not correct, eventhough the user already give
the right password.
anybody can help me how to correct this problem ?
the user use pegasus mail as his mail client.
Thanks in advance
Have a nice day !

Sobari Tanuwijaya
