How to tune the queue processing speed ?

Sorry if this has already been answered in this list, I couldn't find
anything on it.

I am trying to cope with the average 45minutes delay between mail
reception and delivery under very light load.
Is there any option to configure this in a control file, or do I need to
go through the sources to find out ?
