Don't your mailing lists employ some mailing list manager (like ezmlm)
that changes the envelope sender and adds suitable header fields to
stop vacation type programs from responding? If they don't, they
should, and your complaints probably won't go very far. If they do,
then these autoresponders seem to be guilty of two sins: Responding to
a header From address rather than the envelope sender, and ignoring
any indications that this is mailing list material.

Personally, I would be tempted to just remove these people from the
mailing lists in question. With an explanation, of course.
