----------------------------------------------------------------------
hi all,
Sorry for not giving a subject in my earlier mail
First of all I must say that I am a NEWBIE running RH6.0.
After following your list for some weeks,
I did the installation of qmail on a test server.
when executing ./config
I got the following error.
-------------------------
Your hostname is dhamma.metta.lk.
Sorry, I couldn't find your host's canonical name in DNS.
You will have to set up control/me yourself.
-------------------------
./config-farst is ofcause the first solution.
I know this is not a Qmail problem, but I will have to settle it,
and do not quite know what this means.
Could someone kindly let me know
if the files I have setup below are correct
I am running this server as a main server that will be on the Net 24hours
and will be collecting mail on this server for subdomains
the subdomains will dial up on a ppp link and download mail
my main domain is "metta.lk" IP 204.143.107.46
and the subdomains are "col7.metta.lk" local IP 172.16.1.1
and "col4.metta.lk" local IP 172.16.1.1

I do not quite understand, would you mind correcting my lines below,
I know I ought to get a DNS book
but unfortunately I do not have a propper manual.

Jacob,
Like I said, I don't have my ref book here, but I don't think you are
supposed to have a nameserver entry point to a CNAME...

Hi,
Someone has probably just "taken" an emailaddress to send to some
spam-mail-list, cause I get LOTS of spam on just one email-address.. I've
redirected ALL mail to foo.bar to my own Mailbox, but I would very much like
to let the spammer receive a bounce mail containing "foo.bar does not accept
spam" or something..
So what I want is that all mails to [EMAIL PROTECTED] should be bounced.I
know I can do that i Sendmail, but I do think I've seen something like that
when I started with qmail, but now I can't find it again, could someone
enlighten me? Either how to do it or where to find it, or if it's not
possible at all :-) I know I can remove the .qmail-default file, but really,
that's not what I want.

I believe this would do the trick;
echo '|/bin/echo "foo.bar does not accept spam. Go away." ; exit 100'

Stat is only supposed to include un-marked-for-deletion messages for
both the size and enumeration values, not just the size as qmail
is doing.

This is, despite its appearance, _not_ an error message from tcp-env.
It is an error message from Wietse Venema's tcp_wrappers/tcpd, which
saves support costs for Venema by pretending that other programs are
responsible for tcpd's actions.
The use of tcpd with qmail is no longer supported, and the use of inetd
with qmail is supported only for the basic configuration explained in
qmail's installation instructions. See
http://pobox.com/~djb/qmail/faq/servers.html
for ways to set up various servers without using inetd or tcpd.

I wanted to uses qmail's pop3 server after having used the smtp server for
a couple of weeks. Little did I know how much trouble it was going to
be. I didn't know that the pope3d needed Maildir format. So I had to go
through the task of converting all the users to Maildir. My problem now
is getting mail from users stored in ~/Mailbox to convert to Maildir.
This is for previously delivered mail. Is there a utility or spec to do
this?

SOIM Online Publishing Co.,Ltd.
Hi.
I have mailserver named mtest.co.jp.
I am using virtualdomain to get mail, because I want to rewrite some
message header if header message is not complete (but I don't want to
use ofmipd).
So I use qmail-inject via virtualdomain.
(Mail route is qmail-smtpd -> qmail-queue -> qmail-local ->qmail-inject
-> qmail-queue )
Here's the setup:
1)I put the following line in /var/qmail/control/me:
mtest.co.jp
2)I put the following line in virtualdomains:
testserver.co.jp:alias-server
3)I create /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-testserver-default with this line in
it:
|qmail-inject -f "$SENDER" "$RECIPIENT"
I can send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED],it works fine!!
Next,I don't want to use the real server name(mtest.co.jp) but want to
use virtualdomain to every users.(I only use testserver.co.jp domain,
and reject the message to mtest.co.jp domain.)
I tried but I can't.
How can I set qmail?
