qmail-remote getting stuck

been doing some digging and was wondering..
If my qmail server is only dumping off mail to another local mail host via smtp,
would it be wise to put a value of say 60 into
/var/qmail/control/timeoutremote
instead of the default which is 1200 (20 minutes?!?)

will this help with my qmail-remote processes getting stuck or am I barking up
the wrong tree?
