All,

Having worked through various document and RPMs and
finally getting the Summersoft RPM to install with
nary a complaint, I'm trying to get things to actually
work.

I read the man pages and attempted to comprehend them
(especially the INSTALL ones) and am now going
throughthe qmail-HOWTO.

My Linux box is connected via a Pacific Bell DSL line.
It has a static IP address but not necessarily a
domain name. I have called it "lllama.pacbell.net" on
my local subnet with the various Linux configuration
files, and "config-fast" identifies it as such.

However, lllama.pacbell.net isn't in any real DNS out
there. I never intended it to be. This Linux box
doesn't act like a server to anyone out on the
Internet, and I am happy to use its IP address for
those times I access it.

So, since there's no DNS entry, ./config complained
when I tried to run it.

Anyway, mail isn't even being delivered locally on
this box. The maillog has the followign interesting
line:

failure:Sorry,_I_couldn't_find_any_host_named_lllama.pacbell.net._(#5.1.2)/

So, what is a DSL-based qmail installer to do?

I eagerly await amazing responses.

Virtually,
Warr
