I don't know why but eventually I 'fixed' the
problem by making the default ( in qmail-start )
to be Maildir rather than Mailbox. Then all
mails go to Maildir whether I use exact match '='
or wildcard match '+'.
Explanations or other 'fixes' will be appreciated.
