I think it's simply that the big stuff always pushes the OS and hardware a
lot harder than the little stuff. The OS will generally work fine with a
light load -- after all, that's easy to test, and if it dies under light
load, EVERYONE will complain and it'll get fixed. It's the heavy loads that
show the problems, whether it's a load due to mail or anything else.
