qmail Maildir and UNIX "mail"

I'm trying to figure out a way for the UNIX "mail" 
program to read from the ~/Maildir, specifically
Solaris 2.6, and 7. Does qmail have a maildir mail
reader, if so I've considered aliasing /bin/mail to
that qmail mail reader. Any thoughts??
