Normally, the bounces come "from" mailer-daemon (controllable by
/var/qmail/control/bouncefrom); some users might choose to reply
to this message, therefore you create the alias.

By RFC requirements, each host _must_ have a "postmaster"
mailbox. Therefore you create the alias. Also, double bounces
usually go to postmaster (controllable by
/var/qmail/control/doublebounceto).

It's wise to have an alias for root: First, lots of mail (like cron error
reports) is sent to root. Second, qmail doesn't deliver to root (read:
doesn't deliver under uid=0) - it delivers to root's alias.

It's possible to let root, postmaster and mailer-daemon deliver to
alias's mailbox; usually, you want to edit the files to forward mail to
some real user (preferably the user who knows root's password).
