HELP!: 421_unable_to_read_controls_(#4.3.0)

HELP!

This just started at around 4PM eastern time for no obvious reason:

I have been running qmail with vpopmail for 8 months without a hitch, now
this pops up for some unknown reason.

Can anyone help? I am desperate.
