I do not know how the LWQ initscripts work, but probably they just try to terminate the qmail processes. If you have a lot of qmail-remotes running, it may take a while till all stop. You may insert a timeout in the initscripts: after, say, 120s sigkill the qmail processes. This way, you may get duplicate messages sent out, but you will not loose mail. Not a great solution, but if your shutdown is urgent, better than nothing. Mate
