New Installation

Hi   What patches I needs to have a secure and stable installation of qmail. I am trying to install qmail for the first time but I am a bit confused as there is a lot of patches and fixes written by different contributors. Why aren't all those patches included in the source if they are useful for the day to day operation of qmail :)   Thanks for any help.   Ramzi
