Yeah, the same way running your car's engine is bad for it. If you
want your disk drive to last forever, you'll need to power it off. :-)

Well, yeah, that's true too. The more you drive your car, the faster
the engine wears out.

Luckily, disks are way cheaper than cars. :-)
