As it turned out, "mutt -Z -f ./Maildir/" worked just beautifully -- with
one tiny exception: at least one user claimed "the interface on /bin/mail
made her want to pull her hair out". :)
So, what I really need is an actual version of /bin/mail that supports
Maildirs. If there's anyone out there who also thinks this would be a
useful thing to have around, and who has the C skills to code it, I can
offer testing on an actual production machine, as well my eternal
gratitude. (At this point, I think it really *would* be a useful thing and
a good idea, and would be coding it myself if I spoke C.)
