You may be interested to know (but not really care) that MS Exchange
and Lotus Notes are two MTAs I have had to work with that both modify
return receipt. Now they are both corporate e-mail systems and are
designed to do a lot more than just deliver mail (albeit not as good
as some would hope), but still, the MTA definitely has the power to
modify return receipts in both directions, and in these two cases at
least, it does.
