sorry for the inconvenience with the scripts.

I have already encountered the same problems (^M).

Therefore, on my man qmail web page, I included a section "Download
problems" which gives some hints.

This is an old http browser/server problem. 

One may use Dan's http@ client:

./http@ www.fehcom.de qmail/checkfile  > /usr/local/bin/checkfile

and delete the last line (^Z).
