svscan and heavy load

Hi

Starting qmail with 'qmail start' and get the
echo 'Starting qmail: svscan.'

The first time i started qmail like this, i wasnt aware of the problem.
The load was 0.00 and after 5 mins with qmail and svscan running, the load
was closing up to 10.00. -

Why ? This is a p133 and 64mb ram. Anyone?
