qmail: multilog error

Hi !

When i am starting qmail, i get this error message:
multilog: fatal: unable to lock directory /var/log/qmail: temporary
failure

i followed the life with qmail document to install qmail.
this error message is not in any log file.
so i did not see the error, because i am working all over the time
with ssh at this machine.
