Cant get install to work

I'm following the instructions on "living with qmail", trying to get qmail installed 
on my Mandrake8 system.  When I tried to compile daemontools and ucspi-tcp I get an 
error that states that there's an uninitialized value at drakconf.real line 199.  Have 
any of you run into the problem?  Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.
