In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> you write:

I use Courier IMAP and IMAP-before-SMTP. I wrote a little perl daemon
that listens on a socket in /tmp for messages about IP addresses and
rebuilds the cdb file as needed, and made a three-line change to the
IMAP login module to write a message to the socket. Works nicely. I
use Courier's POP server as well, so I made the same three line change
for them.
If there's interest, I could pack it all up, the daemon is only 150
lines of perl and runs under supervise. Free bonus: it also listens
for messages about spam sources that my spam traps send and updates
an rbldns cdb file (for the benefit of multiple SMTP servers).
