actually he may have followed the documentation coming with
qmail-1.03.tar.gz.
Installation under inetd is deprecated now. One of the reasons is
that there are inetd implementations with a low fixed limit of the
possible words on a line - meaning that inetd will silently drop
every word after the 10th or so on a configuration line. I suppose
that the solaris inetd is one of them ...
