As someone else noted, it's a catch-22 -- does qmail do CNAME queries,
which would avoid this problem?  Well, no, because then it causes
problems with other BIND servers.  If MSN is the only one with problems
with ANY queries, I think the current behaviour is best.

Yes -- you'll see lots of "couldn't establish connection" deferrals to
MSN.
