Amavis is not very nice to a qmail system. It's replacing qmail-remote
and/or qmail-local. If delivery takes multiple attempts, amavis will scan
the message multiple times, which is an issue if you've got people kicking
around 100mb file attachments. Also, amavis will bring your box to it's
knees if you've got a large message going out to multiple recipients. Just
imagine even a 30mb attachment going out to 20 people, and each of those 20
deliveries taking 10 attempts before success.
I strongly reccomend qmail-scanner, as each message will only be scanned
once, no matter how many recipients and no matter how many attempts it takes
to get the message delivered.

** qmail-sanner[1] or amavis[2] are reportedly working well with qmail.
