When I posted this originally, I got a very similar answer. So, I did change "env" in
inittab to an explicit path. It
didn't work.
This time, for some reason I decided to look at "/var/qmail/rc", which also calls
"env". So, I changed "env" to the an
explicit path here, without doing so in inittab, and it solved the original problem.
I also had to change "id" in a
couple of lines to an explicit path in "/var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/run" to get
it to run correctly. And now It
works! I guess I should track down why my paths don't seem to follow what should be
expected, but I've got to get on
with setting up this server....
