Qmail and sendmail

I have set up a webmail server, using qmail and silkymail.
Silkymail uses PHP and the function mail(). This function invokes sendmail
to send mail. There is a sendmail variable in php.ini which points to the
location of the binary. In many news threads the solution has been said to
be inserting the path to qmail-inject in this variable. For me, this
doesn't work, and for others as well.
Have anyone got a solution to this problem? (With continous use of qmail)
