try adding the -H and -l <hostname> options to tcpserver (see the
man pages) which should pretty much didsable DNS lookups by tcpserver.
or you might try looking at the logs for your dns server -- you don't say
what you are running, but if it is BIND I might suggest that you are
lissing entries for localhost in your BIND zone file, so tcpserver cannot
convert 127.0.0.1 into 'localhost'
