Sorry for these posts, but I managed to fix my problem:
-It appeared obvious that qmailadmin did not manage to get the permissions he needed on vpopmail files, which caused the "Invalid Login" message.
-The problem was that the partition on which it was installed had a "nosuid" restriction in the /etc/fstab setup :-(
Maybe this should be added in the faq since it's a more or less comon security feature nowadays.
