No, it has to be directly supported by the mail server.

I am trying to allow roaming users over IMAP SSL, and Sam suggested I secure
the SMTP server instead of doing a auth-after-login.
Does anyone use/know about qmail with ESMTP? If so, please let me know!
(I would want to get the ESMTP auth from vchkpw)
