Depending on which version of ezmlm-idx you are using, may I suggest trying
ezweb? Although it doesn't (yet) support 0.40 (since we don't use it), it
does wonderfully with vpopmail-hosted lists, even while concurrently hosted
among lists under ~alias. (If that makes sense.) Authentication is done with
a fairly flexible backend (MySQL, GDBM, or flatfile).
