It seems to me there was a change in the format of the vpasswd file at some
point between those versions. Check the ChangeLog...

Subject: problems with an 0.26h -> 0.35 upgrade
After upgrading from 0.26h to 0.35, I am no longer able to change
users' passwords. Interestingly, that's the only problem: account
creation/deletion still worked.
0.26h was compiled with the following options:
--prefix=/local/vol/qmailadmin-0.26h \
--enable-cgibindir=/project/intranet/web/cgi-bin \
--enable-htmldir=/project/intranet/web/html \
--enable-htmllibdir=/project/intranet/web/html/qmailadmin \
--enable-vpopuser=vpopmail \
--enable-autoresponder-bin=/local/bin
0.35 was compiled as follows:
--prefix=/local/vol/qmailadmin-0.35 \
--enable-cgibindir=/project/intranet/web/cgi-bin \
--enable-htmldir=/project/intranet/web/html \
--enable-htmllibdir=/project/intranet/web/html/qmailadmin \
--enable-vpopuser=vpopmail \
--enable-vpopmaildir=/project/intranet/mail \
--enable-autoresponder-bin=/local/bin
Interestingly, most other options (account and list creation, etc)
worked, but trying to change any users' password failes with a "cannot
change <user> password <passwdstring> -22" error.
Rolling back to 0.26h clears up the problem. Am I missing something
obvious here?
