I always thought that vpopmail lines were just written out.
What happens if you try to change [EMAIL PROTECTED] from the command
line?
Maybe a permissions problem for the qmailadmin cgi?
im just speculating here.

Subject: Error 22?
Still trying to make a successful upgrade from 0.26h to 0.35/37...
Most actions seem to work, but trying to change a user's password
fails with the following error:
Failed to change password. testuser example.com testpass -22
There's no mention of an error 22 anywhere in the qmailadmin code.
Digging through vpopmail, I find the following references:
vauth.c: fprintf(stderr,"Error 22: write error temp file\n");
vcdb.c: fprintf(stderr,"Error 22: write error temp file\n");
...but that seems unlikely, as the qmailadmin cgi is installed setuid
vpopmail and setuid vchkpw, and the vpopmaildir is set correctly.
Am I missing something here?
