Sure it can. Those details are hidden from qmailadmin.
Instead, they are configured into vpopmail. Configure
vpopmail to use the ldap module. Then all the details
of ldap are encapsulated in the vpopmail libraries,
and any application, like qmailadmin, sqwebmail or
courier-imap, that uses the vpopmail api will then
be taking to your ldap database.
