Actually, there [will be] no difference.
Currently, an alias writes to a .qmail-[alias_name] file with the Maildir of the chosen user.
A forward writes to a .qmail-[forward_name] file with the email address being forwarded to.
Even in that sense, the alias and forward as far as the UI are concerned should be the same.
New code is going to write to the .qmail- file with the email address either way so that it's more consistent (this does not change behavior in any way-- except that with the current vpopmail code, it will process the 'aliased' users .qmail file properly).
