I was wondering why should I recompile all my mail stuff when upgrading from
a vpopmail to a newer version.
What changes in vpopmail that requires me to recompile Courier for example?
I would like just to see a big picture of this. We can skip the details.
libvpopmail is statically linked into each program. If you don't recompile, then everything else will still be using the "older" version of vpopmail (including all of it's bugs and configuration options).
This can be especially bad if you're switching from cdb to MySQL. If you don't recompile courier or qmailadmin, they'll both continue to think you're using a cdb backend instead of MySQL.
