thanks, i could get the webinterface of qmailadmin up and running. the apache server was not running as folks rightly pointed out.
i added 2 users in the domain erivaind.com and configured outlook for the 2 users with server ip as 192.168.1.9 (ip address of the pc in which i have installed qmail) but i was not able to exchange between these 2 clients.
