Here's what I've figured out:
- When you send an email to the mail robot directly, it performs as you
expect.
- When the mail robot is used in the form, the message is delivered but no
auto-response is sent.
The autoresponder won't respond to "bulk" messages or mailing lists. My guess is that the autoresponder program sees a particular header that the web form sets and decides not to reply.
That, or the autoresponder replies to the "Sender" address instead of the address in the "From" header. You'd have to take a close look at the message headers in a message to determine the cause (look for a "Return Path" header to find the Sender address).
