Hi all,

I ran into a hitch yesterday when installing qmailadmin 1.2.0 with
autorespond 2.0.2. The From: and Subject: headers added by qmailadmin at the
top of the autoresponse message template end up in the body and are shown to
the client reading the autoresponse. I've seen the problem occur using both
Squirrelmail and Outlook as mail clients. Autorespond 2.0.4 shows the same
behaviour.

I checked the source and discovered that autorespond adds it's own From: and
Subject: headers in code and that the Subject: header seems to be written
away followed by two newlines, which signals the end of the header. The
From: and Subject: headers in the autoresponse message template which follow
are thus considered to be part of the body. After changing this behaviour in
the autorespond.c and recompiling everything works fine. Two questions:

1). Has anyone else seen/solved this behaviour? I'd like to find a more
maintainable solution.
2). Why does autorespond give examples and documentation saying that you
should add From: and Subject: headers to the response message template when
it adds these same headers in code? Does anybody know what the RFC's say
about duplicate From: and Subject: headers?

Thanks,

Daniel Roy.
