Greetings:

For the last several days we've been having intermittent issues with people
being challenged for their password when popping their account. In our
maillog we see the login as being successful.

This is for domains we host. No pattern in the domains. It seems to rotate
from one domain to another. We're not certain but it seems to affect all
users at a domain at the same time.

The same box does POP and SMTP and webmail for the domains. Webmail
(squirrel) seems to be unaffected as we direct people there when the popping
problem arises. Users' BlackBerry's are also unaffected.

We've increased the maxprocs=160 and maxperip=200 from the default. The
number of connections allowed to mySQL has also been increased. When we
restart the daemons the problem goes away for a while.

In Outlook clients typically get the following error:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'imap.eagle.ca', Server: 'imap.eagle.ca', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: 'vmysql: error creating table 'relay': Table 'relay'
already exists', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error
Number: 0x800CCC92

Advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

-tom
