In order to validate before relaying, you have two options: 1) Create a domain, add all users as forwards which forward to the internal mail server or 2) Use qmail with ldap to do the routing.
The first one can be easily done iwth the qmailtoaster, although there is a lot of administrative overhead. The second requires a do it yourself approach.
