The chkuser patch checks the incoming SMTP connection for a valid
recipient. If none, it drops connection. If valid, it accept the email,
and then with domain keys checks the DNS records (also SPF, etc.). This
is why it requires a DNS server on the mail server as well, to speed up
this process (or a caching DNS server).
And what options do I have if I want to upgrade a qmailtoaster
installation but do not wan't the dns lookup (at least not now)?
I updated my test server without activating domain keys (installed it
anyway) but the reverse lookup bothers me, because of that extra traffic
and server work it generates.
