Supriyo,

There is a simple way to install perl modules from cpan:

perl -MCPAN -e shell

You will need to go through a short setup the first time.  Choose the defaults for anything you do not know the answer to.  Then a simple

install Net::SMTP

should do the job.

Hi Nick,

I re-installed Centos 4.3, turned off iptables, and after running the "export LANG=C" command, I tried running  the per script again. Still the  Net::SMTP and Net::Ident didn't get installed. Attached is a PDF file containing the list of installed perl modules as I apparent from Webmin interface.

Is there any log or something which I could look for to find the reasons for the failure.

Thanks a lot for your help anyway. I hope spamassassin should still be able to do its job if I am unable to install the above mentioned perl modules.

Thanks again!

Supriyo

Hi Supriyo,

They are not absolutely necessary, but are recommended by spamassassin.
There is no reason why they should not install properly unless your
firewall is blocking them.

Try this: export LANG=C
            and
          service iptables stop

Try running the perl script again. If everything does not install,
qmailtoaster will still install.

Nick

Sorry... forgot to attach the error logs. Attaching them with this mail.

Hi Nick,

While running the Qmail toaster setup as per the procedure listed in
EZ-QmailToaster-Install.txt, I am having trouble in installing some of
the Perl modules.

I tried your script and then a manual install but I am having trouble
installing GD and libnet-1.9 (Net::SMTP). I attaching the errors
generated during the install in text files with this e-mail. Please note
that I am running Centos 4.3 and recently did a yum update. My kernel
version is 2.6.9-34.EL and I have perl-5.8.5-24.RHEL installed.

Are the perl modules listed in the 'cnt-40-perl.sh' file absolutely
required for the current Qmail Toaster version?
I am a complete newbie as far as perl modules are concerned, so I shall
appreciate your help very much.

Thanks

Supriyo Banerjee
