It's already in there. 500 is the best you're going to get, unless you
want to modify the source code.
I may have suggested this before, but one of my clients sends a large email mailing list out, and for them I set up a second Toaster machine that sits in their back room. It's an old machine - P233, 64M RAM, 6.4G HD, etc. It has it's own name, and a "dummy domain" on it. The machine cost me $25 at a computer junk shop. They send their mailing list to it, and it may take 2 days to get all the emails back out. That's not a problem, since it's not overloading my outgoing concurrency on the main machine they use for email. Makes everyone happy. Might be worth looking into.
