Security is like an onion. If someone cuts through all your security,
you'll be in tears. However it also means that one should have many
layers.
Technically you don't need the iptables firewall. It won't give you
any more protection to the internet, but could provide protection from
within, such as if you haev wifi that gets hacked.
Probably not a big concern, especially if you stick to pop3/imap4 via
ssl and ssh, but one that should be mentioned.

During installation process I have stopped iptables that were configured
using standard distro script.
I would guess that the iptables rules in the script are for direct
connection to the Internet and wold not work behind NAT without
modifications. Question is - being behind NAT and router firewall, do I
even need an additional firewall on my server ?
