There is no cnt44 flag, use cnt40

CentOS 4.3 guide should work perfectly for CentOS 4.4, I have done
this many times.

Check to see if you have postfix installed.

I believe that CentOS4 is the most popular choice for the toaster. There are
many successful 4.4 installations.

What problem specifically do you experience?
# service qmail stat
(note, with qmail it's 'stat', not 'status' as in most other services)

Did you perhaps use 'cnt44' instead of 'cnt40' for the DISTRO variable? All
CentOS distros should use cnt40 for this value.

Let us know. We can help.
