Hello
I started to notice more and a more often
mails beeing held into /var/qmail/simscan/somedir/somemail

after a while (20minutes by default) they just get knocked out
and of course mail is then lost

Any1 noticed such behavior ?

FC5 / powerful hardware .. no load on machine
but a few simscan process (due to the mails held into simscan process dir)
opened for 20minutes ...

yap me too once... the folder inside /var/qmail/simscan seems always
adding and check there was 32000 folder limitation on linux.
I was thinking to create a cron job to delete unnecessary folder...

but then mistake happen, I kinda delete /var/qmail/simscan folder not the
folders inside it... after re-create the folder again it seems simscan
delete the temp. folder

or... maybe after I upgrade my simscan ??
dont know.. .you can tried both way :P

Hey
the folder shouldnt get that big
The problem is elsewhere

I am pretty sure, it is about smtp connection not beeing closed
for each mail held in the simscan process
you have a qmail-smtp and simscan process opened
(knocked after your timeout settings ,, default 1200 seconds)

for instance ..
vpopmail 3243 0.0 0.0 6896 1368 pts/2 S 17:36 0:00 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd /home/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /bin/true clamav 3244 0.0 0.0 2676 472 pts/2 S 17:36 0:00 /var/qmail/bin/simscan

drwxr-x--- 2 clamav vchkpw 4096 Mar 16 17:36 1174063019.307729.3244 simscan folder

when it occurs on mail with attachements I noticed the mail wasnt finished
I mean the DATA didnt end the proper way
should be a CRLF . if I recall

That's how it looks like, the mail stuck in simscan process folder

that's not teh was it should end :)

for text mail, it is a bit different ...

But the server data timeout is 20minutes .. that should be more than enough

I ll get access to sender's smtp and check, I thing the problem is there
that smtp and the qt one dont seem to understand each others when sending some attachements (not all, that makes it even worse to debug)
