Sure you can regenerate it
it will work fine
You have lots of way to self signed yours
or buy one

I usually use this to do mine
quick and you can select the infos you want

req -new -newkey rsa:2048 -days 3650 -nodes -x509 -keyout mail.domain.com.pem -out mail.domain.com.pem

then just copy mail.domain.com.pem to /var/qmail/control/servercert.pem
restart qmail
