What AWL does is average the scores. If the user sent you an email before
and it scored 20, but the next message they send you only scores 10, AWL
kicks in and adds 5 points to bring it up to 15. This is supposed to
prevent any positive/negative spikes in scoring. What usually happens (see
this on the Spamassassin mailing list all the time, almost daily) is while
someone is just starting to train their Bayes or write new rules, AWL
gives them some problems. I'd suggest dropping the AWL DB and starting
over, or disabling AWL until you're done with whatever writing/teaching
you're doing.
