maybe i asked in a wrong way.

But , if someone could give me any info at all about how an item of mail
moves through a server, both in and out and eventually disappears. That would
be wonderful.

thanks much.

Subject: [qmailtoaster] The path and life of a mail

Friends,

Could someone tell me where / how a individual piece of mail might travel into
and out of my qmailToaster email server.
incoming and outgoing.

I know that there is
home/vpopmail/domains/theppsgroup/"NAME"/maildir/new and current ( curr )

what i would like to know are the stops & hops that happen ( que & simscan )
And in reagrds to simscan is it ClamAV first and Then SpamAssassin or both at
once?

when I send email from my dsktop ...where does it immediately go in the server ?
Util it ultimately then gets 'delivered' to the destination server. Isn't it
then "Gone"?

and when someone sends something to my account ...it comes in where and how
does it travel? simsan and the like.

I have done some poking and testing... But would love to hear the whole 1-2-3
from someone who really knows.

thanks much

jim
