Hmm. I had asked a similar question years ago and a RHCE told me that all asterisks were interperated as "never run". I would still try dropping the script in the /etc/cron.hourly folder though. That will get run every hour and update your time. I use my nameservers as time servers as well, and have my QMT boxes sync to them since they're all tier 2. Something to also check would be the firewall - make sure port isn't blocked.
